Munoz injured, Sonnen to face Bisping

January 18, 2012 09:34 by MMA Admin

Let the smack talking begin. Recent news from the UFC reveals that Mark Munoz will not be able to compete against Chael Sonnen due to injury. He will now face Michael Bisping on the Fox2 event slated for the 28th January. The winner of the bout will face reigning middleweight champion Anderson Silva.

Sonnen and Bisping, both notrious for their pre-fight trash talk, will no doubt live up to their reputations. Stylistically it should be an interesting matchup as a classic striker versus grappler contents. It remains to be seen if Bisping's takedown defence will be effective against Sonnen, who not so long ago dominated Anderson Silva for five rounds until getting submitted via triangle choke in the dying seconds of the fifth.

Other noteworthy fights will include Rashad Evans vs Phil Davis, Paul Sass vs Evan Dunham, and Dustin Jacoby vs Chris Camozzy.

Wanderlei confident of KO against Bisping for UFC 110

Wanderlei Silva is looking for a fresh start in his fight against Bisping at UFC 110. After being a dominant force in Pride for so many years, Silva has only had one win against three defeats since joining the UFC. Some critics have said that Silva is over the hill, but Silva has a warning for Bisping - "I am going back to my best now", and "I badly want a victory and I want a victory Wanderlei Silva-style."

Silva states that he has fought many of the most toughest fighters in MMA, including the likes of Dan Henderson, Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson, and Mirko 'Cro Cop' Filipovic, and that he fears nobody. Silva says "I don't mind getting hit in a fight. I don't think Bisping has the power to knock me out." Wanderlei has been told that Bisping has been making comments about him, and he believes that Bisping is afraid. "I've maintained my muscle and I'm going to put Bisping in real trouble".

Bisping training with Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson

A follow up post from Michael Bisping's UFC 110 blog has indicated that he is currently training with Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson in preparation for his upcoming fight with Wanderlei Silva. The history between Rampage and Silva is well known, with Rampage most recently gaining a victory over the well known striker.

Bisping highlights that having Rampage as a training partner will be invaluable in offering him an insight from a fighter who has experience with Wanderlei's style.

Although recognizing the power of the heavy-hitting Brazillian, Bisping believes that his style will be a 'bad fit' for Silva, and that he wont show him any respect in the ring.
